Water stand pipes installed for Mbungo school and village, paid for and installed by Malawi Dream in 2007.

In 2007 Malawi Dream has provided at Primary School level electricity for classrooms, educational equipment and materials, school uniforms and nutritional programmes.

The first Infant School/ Child Care Centre has been built and will be opened in Mbungo village in July 2008 with all the above facilities. Pupils aged between 3 to 5 years old will be taught by trained village volunteers. The Centre will also be used for Baby and Toddler Clinics, saving the mothers walking in the sun for one hour each way to the Hospital as there is no transport.

Secondary Scholarships have been awarded and pupils provided with school uniforms and materials.

Malaria is a killer disease normally affects the under five's. Malawi Dream hopes to instal insecticide nets and internally spraying the dwellings on Likoma an island. It is hoped that in 2008 malaria on Likoma will be reduced by 70 % if not eradicated: we believe this to be a first in Africa as Likoma is an island. Linked to this project is the provision of water pumps to avoid the risks of stagnant water.

There are no orphanages on the island through local choice. The HIV orphans are placed in extended families Malawi Dream helps these families by planting vegetable patches and the provision of goats and pens. The vegetable patches are thriving and the goats have produced 2 kids! The community identify their own needs and donate the labour, the projects are successful because of the ownership.

Malawi Dream has built and installed a water system in Mbungo The water tank has been built, the pipes and taps purchased and the trenches dug by the community. Connection was completed March 2008. The water project is the most ambitious project to date with no DIY store to hand! All the materials are purchased on the mainland and delivered by ferry which only calls twice a week.
